Questions & answers
Know before you buy
Quick answers about the AV-CAP100, and how it compares.
Where does the CAP100 fit?
Between an HDMI source and a computer. It brings a PTZ camera such as the [Avonic CM32-IP], a laptop or a video switcher into Zoom, Webex, OBS or recording software as a standard USB webcam.
Do I need the CAP100 with the CM32-IP?
| Connection | Need the CAP100? |
|---|---|
| [CM32-IP] USB 3.0 output straight to a PC | No, the camera is already a USB webcam |
| [CM32-IP] HDMI output, PC far away or USB in use | Yes, use the CAP100 at the PC end |
| Any HDMI-only camera, laptop or switcher | Yes |
The CAP100 is most useful for cameras and sources with HDMI output only.
Do I need to install drivers?
No. It’s UVC and UAC compliant, so Windows, macOS and Linux recognize it as a webcam and microphone right away.
What resolution does it capture?
Up to 1080p at 60 fps over USB 3.0, with embedded HDMI audio. It also works on USB 2.0, at lower resolutions and frame rates.
Does it need a power supply?
No. It’s powered from the USB port and draws 2.5 W or less.
Is the captured video compressed?
No. The CAP100 captures uncompressed YUV 4:2:2 video, so there’s no added compression delay or quality loss before your recording or streaming software. Use a USB 3.0 port for full 1080p60, since USB 2.0 only supports lower resolutions and frame rates.
Who supplies Avonic in Pakistan?
Use the same Avonic answer as on the CM32-IP page. Make it a shared answer now that there are two Avonic products.
