Quick answers about the CCSD-DL2, and how it compares.
Which CCS 1000 D discussion device do I need?

|---|---|---|---|---|
| CCSD-DL2 | Tabletop | Long, 480 mm | Participant or chair | 50 x 150 x 132 mm, about 1 kg |
| CCSD-DS2 | Tabletop | Short, 310 mm | Participant or chair | 50 x 150 x 132 mm, about 1 kg |
| CCSD-DL | Tabletop | Long, 480 mm | Participant or chair | 64 x 203 x 146 mm, about 1 kg |
| CCSD-DS | Tabletop | Short, 310 mm | Participant or chair | 64 x 203 x 146 mm, about 1 kg |
| CCSD-FDL | Flush | Long, 480 mm | Participant | 63 x 173 x 92 mm, 560 g |
| CCSD-FCML | Flush | Long, 480 mm | Chairperson | 63 x 173 x 92 mm, 560 g |
All have a flexible-stem cardioid microphone, built-in loudspeaker and the white possible-to-speak light. Tabletop devices add a headphone socket. Short-microphone flush versions: CCSD-FDS (ask us), CCSD-FCMS (ask us).
How do I set up a chairperson seat?
Tabletop devices ship with a participant microphone button. For the chairperson, clip on the chairperson buttons (microphone and priority) and set the concealed slide switch under the device to chairperson; no system restart. For the CCSD-DL2 and CCSD-DS2 the buttons are ordered separately: CCSD-DCBCM (ask us), 10 pairs with the removal tool. For the original CCSD-DL / DS, ask us.
Flush seats use the CCSD-FCML, a dedicated chairperson device with its own priority button.
The chairperson holds the priority button to overrule all participant microphones; a chime announces it. Up to 25 devices can be chairperson or interruption microphones.
What do the lights on the device mean?
- White above the microphone button: you can switch your microphone on now.
- Green above the button and in the microphone head: your request is in the waiting list; it flashes when you are next.
- The microphone head has a light ring as well.
Can participants use headphones?
Yes. Each tabletop device has a 3.5 mm stereo headphone socket with a volume thumbwheel on the side. An option in the web browser interface lowers the headphone volume automatically while the microphone is on, to prevent feedback.
How are the devices connected?
Each device has a 2 m cable with a locking 6-pole connector and a socket for the next device, so devices daisy-chain back to the control unit: up to 40 per trunk, two trunks per control unit. Devices are plug and play; there is no need to power down or restart. DCN-DISCLM (ask us) cable clamps (25 pieces) hold one device to the next.
Which discussion modes does CCS 1000 D have?
- Open: participants press to speak; when the open microphones are full, the next request joins the waiting list.
- Override: a new speaker switches off the microphone that has been on longest (never the chairperson).
- Voice activation: microphones switch on when someone speaks; hold the button to mute.
- Push to talk: the microphone is on while the button is held.
Up to 4 open microphones are set on the control unit, up to 25 in the web browser interface. An interruption microphone, for example at a podium, always gets the floor.
What do I need for a CCS 1000 D system?
- A control unit: CCSD-CURD with MP3 recorder and feedback suppression, or CCSD-CU (ask us) without them. It powers and controls up to 80 discussion devices on two trunks of 40.
- Extension units for bigger rooms: each CCSD-EXU powers up to 85 more devices, for a maximum of 245.
- Tabletop devices: CCSD-DL2 (long microphone) or CCSD-DS2 (short microphone), each set as participant or chairperson.
- Flush devices: CCSD-FDL for participants and CCSD-FCML for the chairperson, both with long microphones; short-microphone CCSD-FDS (ask us) and CCSD-FCMS (ask us). Up to 35 flush devices per trunk.
- A tablet, laptop or PC for the web browser interface and advanced settings.
Devices daisy-chain with their own 2 m cables and are plug and play: no restart when you add or remove one.
