Questions & answers

Know before you buy

Quick answers about the DS-2CD6425G1-30 2.8mm (2m), and how it compares.

Can anyone buy a covert or pinhole camera?

No. Covert and pinhole cameras are not sold to the general public. They are supplied only with authorization from the relevant government authority. Contact us with your authorization and site details, and we will advise on the right model.

What happens to my recordings if a hard disk fails or the NVR is stolen?

With a microSD card in the camera, the last days of video stay inside the camera, even if the hard disk fails or thieves take the NVR. If the network drops, the camera records to the card and the NVR copies the gap back later. On the NVR side, RAID models (86xx, 96xx) lose nothing when one disk fails; other NVRs lose only the video on the failed disk.
