Know before you buy
Quick answers about the DS-2CE76K0T-LPFS 2.8mm, and how it compares.
Will it record at its full resolution?
Only if the DVR can. A Turbo HD camera sends its picture over coax and the DVR decides how it is recorded. "Lite" is not the full resolution: 1080p Lite is 960 × 1080, half the width of 1080p, like selling 500 mL of milk as "1 L Lite". Value DVRs record 1080p Lite; AcuSense DVRs record 1080p at 15 fps (3K / 5MP Lite at 12 fps), and some record 1080p at 30 fps. Key Specs on each DVR page shows its recording.
Does it record sound?
Yes. The built-in microphone sends sound over the same coax cable, so no extra audio wire is needed. Key Specs on each DVR page shows how many channels take sound over coax.
Does the camera detect people and vehicles?
Not by itself. Turbo HD cameras have no AI. An AcuSense DVR adds people and vehicle alerts (Motion Detection 2.0) and perimeter protection on the channels its spec lists. For AI inside the camera, see Hikvision IP cameras.
ColorVu, Smart Hybrid Light or Infrared: what is the difference?
ColorVu lights the scene with soft white light for full colour at night. Smart Hybrid Light uses invisible IR (black and white) and can switch to white light for colour. Infrared (EXIR) gives black and white night video with no visible light.
Turbo HD or IP cameras: which should I choose?
Turbo HD is the budget choice, but the DVR sets the recording quality, AI runs only on the DVR, and every camera needs its own coax cable back to the recorder, so moving or adding cameras later means new wiring. IP cameras record at their full resolution, have AI built in, and run video, power (PoE) and audio on one network cable. For more than 16 cameras, IP is the better fit.
