Which Hikvision NVR line do I need?
Value Series (NI-Q): basic recording. AcuSense Pro K (NXI-K): AI for people and vehicles, perimeter and face recognition on a few cameras. AcuSense Pro I (NXI-I): AI on more channels. VPro: AcuSeek on most models, 2 AI engines on some. M Series 8K (NI-M): 8K output and more bandwidth for high-resolution cameras, no AI of its own: go for it when all cameras are already AcuSense. DeepinMind (iDS): AI on many channels. Super NVR (86 and 96): large sites, RAID.
What are AcuSense, AcuSearch and AcuSeek, and how does this NVR use them?
AcuSense tells people and vehicles apart from other movement, so leaves, rain, animals and car lights cause far fewer false alarms. It drives Motion Detection 2.0 (people and vehicle alerts) and perimeter protection (line crossing and intrusion). AcuSearch finds a person or vehicle in recordings by features such as clothing colour or vehicle type. AcuSeek searches recordings by typed words, like "white car at the gate".
With AcuSense cameras the camera does the detection, so these work on all channels. With normal cameras the NVR does it itself, only on a limited number of channels. AcuSearch and AcuSeek on all channels need AcuSense cameras with AcuSearch switched on. Key Specs shows what this model does in each case.
Can it run all the AI functions at once?
No, one at a time. This NVR has one AI engine: you choose which AI function it runs, for example perimeter protection, face recognition or AcuSearch. Detection done by AcuSense cameras themselves does not use this engine. If you need two together, choose a model that runs 2 AI engines at once.
Will it add AI to my older cameras?
Yes. Motion Detection 2.0 runs on the NVR itself, so older cameras without AI also get people and vehicle alerts, with far fewer false alarms from animals, leaves and car lights.
Can it recognise faces on all cameras?
From normal cameras, only on a few channels (see Key Specs). For face recognition on all channels, use 2 Line face-capture cameras. The NVR's AI engine is then set to face recognition, so perimeter protection and the other AI functions do not run.
Does it come with a hard disk?
No. Hikvision NVRs come without hard disks. Key Specs shows how many disks it takes. Our engineers size the disks for the number of cameras and the days of recording you need.
