Questions & answers

Know before you buy

Quick answers about the DS-TMG035 (Anti-Fall Radar), and how it compares.

What does an anti-fall radar do?

It holds the boom up while a car or a person is under it. The barrier has one anti-fall input; the radar, a loop detector or an IR beam connects to it. The radar needs no cut in the road.

Radar or loop detector?

Both do the job. The loop (DS-TMG022 with a DS-TMG023 coil) needs a slot cut in the road and detects metal only, so it does not see people. The radar mounts on the barrier, sees cars and people, and is set from the phone. For a new lane we quote the radar.

Will it open the barrier for an arriving car?

Not in anti-fall mode. For that take the DS-TMG035 (Trigger Radar), the same unit set to trigger mode, or use both: a trigger radar on the approach and an anti-fall radar at the boom.

What is the difference between DS-TMG035 and DS-TMG034?

Same job and the same radar figures. DS-TMG035 is set up over Bluetooth, takes 9 to 32 V DC, is IP67 and smaller. DS-TMG034 is set up over Wi-Fi and takes 9 to 12 V DC. The /60G versions of the DS-TMG034 use a 60 GHz radar instead of 79 GHz.

Does rain, fog or sun affect it?

No. Radar is not affected by light, dust, rain, snow or electromagnetic interference. Working range -40 to +85 °C.

How is it set up?

Mount it on the barrier housing facing the lane, power it, then set the distance and width in the phone app over Bluetooth (or by RS-485). Settings are kept after a power cut.
