Build your lane

Each lane sits between two pedestals. One side sends infrared beams and the other receives them; this is how the gate sees a person, a bag or someone trying to follow. Seen from the entrance:

R always stands at the right end and sends.

Middle pedestals serve two lanes, so M1 and M2 take turns: M1 next to R, then M2, then M1 again.

How many pedestals do I need?

One more than the number of lanes. 1 lane: L1 + R. 2 lanes: L2 + M1 + R. 3 lanes: L1 + M2 + M1 + R. See Build your lane above.

L1 or L2, M1 or M2: what is the difference?

Pedestals send and receive infrared beams in turns along the row. R always stands on the right and sends. Middle pedestals take turns from the right: M1, M2, M1. The left end is L1 for an odd number of lanes and L2 for an even number. Order the set for your lane count.

EM or Mifare card: which one do I need?

The card must match the reader. E versions read EM cards (125 kHz), M versions read Mifare cards (13.56 MHz), which are harder to copy. Use one card type for the whole site.

Can it use face recognition?

Yes, on Pg versions. A Hikvision face terminal fits on the pedestal with the DS-KAB6-ZU3 (height adjustable) or DS-KAB6-ZU1 bracket. Both are bought separately.

Can I install it outdoors?

Yes. It is made for indoor and outdoor use: SUS304 stainless steel, -20 to 70 °C. Near the sea or chemical plants, Hikvision suggests 316 stainless steel and more cleaning.

What happens in a fire alarm or power cut?

Linked to the fire alarm, the flaps open so people can leave. When the power is off, the flaps stay open.

How many people can pass per minute?

30 to 60 persons per minute per lane, depending on how fast people show their card or face.
