Hikvision makes the DS-TMG420 for three boom lengths. The opening and closing times are the factory defaults and can be set on the barrier (three speed levels).

Which boom length do I need?

The boom covers the lane, so measure the lane width: 3 m, 4 m or 6 m booms. The 6 m boom gets a support at the far end. The light boom version takes 3 m or 4 m booms.

Left or right: which direction do I order?

Either. The DS-TMG420 is delivered for a boom on the right (seen from the front) and the direction is switched on site, so one model fits both sides of the lane.

What stops the boom hitting a car?

Two things. The boom rebounds as soon as it touches something while closing. And an anti-fall radar (DS-TMG035 or DS-TMG034), a loop detector in the road or an IR beam holds the boom up while a car or person is under it. The barrier has one input for any of the three.

Can it open by number plate?

Yes. A Hikvision entrance ANPR camera such as the DS-TCG406-E reads the plate and switches the barrier through its relay output. Listed cars (up to 100,000) get in without a guard, also when the network is down.

What happens in a power cut?

The boom stays where it is and the guard opens it with the hand wheel on the motor. With the optional DS-TMG060-42 supercapacitor board the boom rises on its own when the power fails, so no car is trapped.

What does the /A/B version add?

An LED strip inside the boom, green when open and red when closed, visible from far away at night, plus an arrow indicator on the body. The plain DS-TMG420 has neither.

How many remotes can it take?

One 433 MHz remote (DS-TMG012-5) comes in the box, with a range of about 30 m. Hikvision pairs up to 48 remotes with a 42 Series barrier.
