What does a decoder or controller do in a video wall?
A monitor cannot read a camera stream on its own. A decoder (DS-6900 series, DS-C10S) takes the H.265 streams from cameras and NVRs and turns them into HDMI or DVI pictures for the screens, with several cameras per output. A video wall controller (DS-C30S, C60S, C66S) goes further: input cards take HDMI, DVI and decoded cameras, output cards drive the screens, and the controller lets the operator open, move and scale windows across the whole wall from a keyboard or HikCentral.
