Know before you buy
Quick answers about the DS-7116HGHI-M1/T, and how it compares.
What recording quality does it really give?
The DVR records at its own quality, whatever the camera. "Lite" is not the full resolution: 1080p Lite is 960 × 1080, half the width of 1080p, like selling 500 mL of milk as "1 L Lite". Value DVRs record 1080p Lite. AcuSense DVRs record 1080p at 15 fps and 3K / 5MP Lite at 12 fps; HUHI models record 1080p at 30 fps (real-time) and up to 8MP at 8 fps. Key Specs shows this model.
Does it support two-way talk?
Yes. With a two-way Turbo HD camera (microphone and speaker) you can talk through the camera over the same coax cable. Cameras with only a microphone record sound. Key Specs shows how many channels take sound over coax.
Can I add Hikvision IP cameras to this DVR?
Yes, a few. Key Specs shows how many and up to which resolution. For more IP cameras or higher resolution, choose a Hikvision NVR.
Do I need AI cameras for people and vehicle alerts?
No. This DVR does the AI itself on the channels its spec lists, so normal Turbo HD cameras get people and vehicle alerts. Turbo HD cameras have no AI of their own.
Turbo HD or IP: which should I choose?
Turbo HD is the budget choice, but the DVR sets the recording quality, AI runs only on the DVR, and every camera needs its own coax cable back to the recorder, so moving or adding cameras later means new wiring. IP cameras record at their full resolution, have AI built in, and run video, power (PoE) and audio on one network cable. For more than 16 cameras, IP is the better fit.
Does it come with a hard disk?
No. Hikvision DVRs come without hard disks. Key Specs shows how many disks it takes and the largest size. Our engineers size the disk for your cameras and the days of recording you need.
