Know before you buy
Quick answers about the DS-2CD1123G0E-I 2.8mm, and how it compares.
1 Line or 2 Line: which one do I need?
1 Line (Value Series): the body is often plastic or part plastic (it differs by model, so check the specs), with Motion Detection 2.0 or 3.0 for people and vehicle alerts. Good for homes, shops and small offices.
2 Line (Pro Series): metal body (some parts, like the sun shade, are plastic), bigger sensor, longer night range and perimeter alarms such as line crossing and intrusion. Good for factories, warehouses and any site with a wall or fence.
G0 or G2: what changes?
G0 has ordinary motion detection: it alerts on anything that moves, also cats, leaves and car lights. G2 first checks for a person or vehicle (Motion Detection 2.0 on 1 Line, AcuSense on 2 Line), so you get far fewer false alarms. A Hikvision AI NVR (NXI) can add people and vehicle alerts to G0 cameras.
Will I see colour at night?
No. At night this camera uses IR light and records in black and white, up to the range shown on this page. For colour at night, choose Smart Hybrid Light or ColorVu.
What do AcuSense, Motion Detection, AcuSense Perimeter, AcuSearch and AcuSeek mean?
- AcuSense: the brain that tells people and vehicles apart. It also marks the recordings, so you can play back only those clips.
- Motion Detection 2.0 / 3.0: motion detection with AcuSense. It alerts only for people and vehicles, not cats, leaves or rain. 3.0 also ignores headlights.
- AcuSense Perimeter: you draw a line or an area (line crossing, intrusion, entering or leaving an area), and only people and vehicles set off the alarm. Built into 2 Line (Pro Series) cameras.
- AcuSearch: click a person in old video and see every clip with them (Pro I NVR or higher).
- AcuSeek: search video by typing words, like "white car at the gate" (G3 cameras with a VPro or DeepinMind NVR).
What does the camera do, and what does the NVR add?
The camera detects motion; the NVR records and helps you find clips. This camera has no people and vehicle filter of its own. A Hikvision AI NVR (NXI) can add people and vehicle alerts to it, and line crossing or face recognition on 1 or 2 cameras.
Which Hikvision NVR should I pair it with?
Any Hikvision NVR records it. Value (NI-Q) for basic recording. Pro K (NXI-K) adds people and vehicle playback, AI for older cameras and face recognition on a few cameras. Pro I (NXI-I) adds AcuSearch. VPro adds AcuSeek. DeepinMind runs AI on many channels. Our engineers size channels and storage with your quote.
Can this camera recognise faces?
Not by itself. A Hikvision AI NVR (NXI), even a low-cost one like the DS-7604NXI-K1, can capture and recognise faces from it on 1 or 2 cameras. For good results, people should face the camera at head height, with light on their faces.
What happens to my recordings if a hard disk fails or the NVR is stolen?
With a microSD card in the camera, the last days of video stay inside the camera, even if the hard disk fails or thieves take the NVR. If the network drops, the camera records to the card and the NVR copies the gap back later. On the NVR side, RAID models (86xx, 96xx) lose nothing when one disk fails; other NVRs lose only the video on the failed disk.
This model has no card slot. If you want this backup, ask us for a model with a microSD slot.
