Know before you buy
Quick answers about the DS-K3G225X-R/M-Dm55, and how it compares.
What is a card enrollment station for?
It sits on the admin desk and connects to the PC by USB. When you add a new user, you tap their card on it and the card number goes straight into the access control software, so nobody has to type long card numbers by hand or walk to a door reader. It reads both 13.56 MHz (M1, CPU) and 125 kHz (EM) cards.
EM or Mifare card: which one do I need?
They are two different card types and a reader works with one of them. EM (125 kHz) cards are the cheapest and fine for a small office. Mifare (13.56 MHz) cards are harder to copy and the same card can also work on turnstiles, lifts and payment. If you already have cards, match the reader to them; for a new site we recommend Mifare. Ask us if you are not sure which cards you have.
