Questions & answers

Know before you buy

Quick answers about the DCNM-APS2, and how it compares.

What does the DCNM-APS2 do?

It is the central unit of a DICENTIS system. It routes, controls and processes the audio of all participants and supplies power to the discussion and multimedia devices over the network cable. An adaptive acoustic feedback suppressor and two 5-band parametric equalizers keep speech clear and stop howling in the room.

DCNM-APS2 or DCNM-PS2: which do I need?

Every DICENTIS system needs one DCNM-APS2. It routes, controls and processes all the audio (feedback suppression, two 5-band equalizers, analogue audio in and out for a PA system or video conferencing) and powers the devices.

The DCNM-PS2 is a powering switch only, with no audio. Add one when the system needs more power or more network ports than the APS2 gives. Both have the same sockets: three 144 W, one 15 W and one without power.

Can I connect a PA system or video conferencing?

Yes. It has 2 balanced XLR and 4 RCA inputs to bring outside audio into the system, and 2 balanced XLR and 4 RCA outputs for an external sound reinforcement (PA) system. Mix-minus connects video conferencing equipment, so remote participants hear the room without hearing themselves back.

How much power does it supply?

A 48 VDC system supply over three 144 W sockets and one 15 W socket, plus one network socket without power. Each powered socket works on its own: a short circuit on one does not affect the others, and a rear LED shows green for power and red for overload.

What are loop-through and cable redundancy?

DICENTIS devices are daisy-chained: each device connects to the next with one network cable. The last device in the loop can be connected back to a DCNM-APS2 or DCNM-PS2, so the loop is fed from both ends. If one cable is damaged, the devices stay powered and connected from the other side.

How is it installed?

In a 19-inch rack with the brackets, or on a table with its feet. It has no user controls: it is set up and controlled remotely from the DICENTIS system, needs no network configuration, and goes to standby when the system is not in use.

Who supplies Bosch DICENTIS in Pakistan, and what warranty do I get?

Electronic Security Company (ESCO) is the only authorized distributor of Bosch, Dynacord and Electro-Voice in Pakistan, so every DICENTIS product is genuine and comes with a 3-year warranty. Warranty is carry-in: bring the unit to an ESCO office and after inspection it is repaired or replaced as needed.

We supply, design and install complete conference and voting systems for parliaments, government offices, boardrooms and auditoriums, with after-sales service nationwide. Prices are quoted per project: tell us your room and number of seats and we will send a quote.
