Is the CB5 4K really wire-free?
Yes. There is no power cable to run: a 1.4 W solar panel is built into the camera and charges its 10,400 mAh battery. EZVIZ rates the battery at up to 180 days without any sun in its own tests. Because the panel is part of the camera, mount it where the camera itself gets a few hours of direct sun.
Does the CB5 4K turn to follow people?
No. It has a fixed 135° wide view and records that whole area in sharp 8MP. For a camera that turns and follows people, look at the HB8c/SP or the dual-lens HB90 Dual kit.
CB5 4K or HB8c/SP solar kit: which should I choose?
Choose the CB5 4K for the most detail (8MP) over one wide area, in a single unit with the panel built in. Choose the HB8c/SP if you want the camera to turn and follow people and vehicles (4MP). Its panel sits on a 3 m cable, so the camera can be in shade while the panel is in the sun, and it costs less.

Does a battery camera record all the time?
Normally a battery camera sleeps and records a short clip when its motion sensor is triggered, which saves battery. Cameras with Always-On Video (AOV) keep recording all day at a low frame rate and switch to full speed when something happens, so there are no gaps in the timeline.
AOV uses more power, so pair it with a solar panel. The CB5 4K, HB8 Lite, HB8c/SP and HB90 Dual kit have AOV; the CB8 records motion clips.
What do 2K, 3K and 4K mean in megapixels?
Brands use 2K, 3K and 4K loosely, so compare cameras by megapixels:

More megapixels keep faces and number plates readable when you zoom into a recording. For a room 2MP to 3MP is enough; for a gate, driveway or shop front, 4MP and above is worth it.
How does it record, and do I need a subscription?
Video is saved on a microSD card in the camera (not included). When the card is full, the oldest video is overwritten automatically. ESCO stocks genuine EZVIZ cards in 64 GB and 128 GB.
No subscription is needed: live view, playback, alerts and AI detection all work in the free EZVIZ app. EZVIZ CloudPlay is an optional paid plan that also keeps alert clips online, so they are safe even if the camera or card is stolen.
