Know before you buy
Quick answers about the H1C, and how it compares.
Where can I put the H1c?
Anywhere near a socket: stand it on a shelf, or stick it to a metal surface with its magnetic base. The 108° wide lens covers most of a normal room from a corner. It runs on a Type-C 5 V 1 A adapter.
H1c or a pan & tilt camera?
Does it work with Alexa and Google Assistant?
Yes. Link it in the Alexa or Google Home app to watch it on a compatible smart display or TV by voice.
How do the EZVIZ indoor cameras compare?
| Model | Megapixels | View | Follows people | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| H1c | 2MP | Fixed, 108° | No, motion alerts | Magnetic base |
| H6c | 2MP | Pan & tilt | Follows motion | Lowest-cost pan & tilt |
| TY1 Pro | 2MP | Pan & tilt | Yes | Colour night vision, call button |
| H6c Pro 2K | 3MP | Pan & tilt | Yes | Colour night vision, call button |
| TY1 Pro 2K | 3MP | Pan & tilt | Yes | Colour night vision, call button |
| TY1 G1 2K | 3MP | Pan & tilt, floor to ceiling | Yes, with zoom | Privacy shutter |
| H6c Pro 3K | 5MP | Pan & tilt | Yes, zooms 4× | 5 GHz Wi-Fi |
| TY1 Pro 3K | 5MP | Pan & tilt | Yes, zooms 4× | 5 GHz Wi-Fi |
| E4p 3K⁺ | 5MP | Fisheye, whole room at once | No need, sees all | No moving parts |
| H7c Dual 2K⁺ | 2 × 4MP | Wide lens + pan & tilt lens | Yes | Wi-Fi 6 |
For a baby, elderly parent or shop counter, a model that recognises people sends fewer false alerts than plain motion detection.
Can I switch it off when I am at home?
Yes. Privacy (sleep) mode in the EZVIZ app stops video and sound, and you can schedule it, for example on whenever you are home. On pan & tilt models the lens also turns away so everyone can see it is off. The TY1 G1 2K adds a physical shutter over the lens.
Recordings stay on the microSD card in your camera, and only go online if you choose EZVIZ CloudPlay.
What do 2K, 3K and 4K mean in megapixels?
Brands use 2K, 3K and 4K loosely, so compare cameras by megapixels:
| Megapixels | Sold as | Pixels |
|---|---|---|
| 2MP | 1080p, Full HD | 1920 × 1080 |
| 3MP | 2K | 2304 × 1296 |
| 4MP | 2K⁺, QHD | 2560 × 1440 |
| 5MP | 3K | 2880 × 1620 |
| 8MP | 4K, UHD | 3840 × 2160 |
More megapixels keep faces and number plates readable when you zoom into a recording. For a room 2MP to 3MP is enough; for a gate, driveway or shop front, 4MP and above is worth it.
How does it record, and do I need a subscription?
Video is saved on a microSD card in the camera (not included). When the card is full, the oldest video is overwritten automatically. ESCO stocks genuine EZVIZ cards in 64 GB and 128 GB.
No subscription is needed: live view, playback, alerts and AI detection all work in the free EZVIZ app. EZVIZ CloudPlay is an optional paid plan that also keeps alert clips online, so they are safe even if the camera or card is stolen.
